Frequently Asked Questions
The Just Attend badge printing application is free to use with all paid plans.
Using the full color badge printing system and providing the attendee is prepared to use the kiosk on arrival (i.e. has their QR code to hand) then these kiosks can print approximately 4 people per minute.
This is taking into consideration people movement.
Systematically, the system can print a badge every 8 seconds.
The thermal badge printing solution depends on the thermal printer performance and specification you choose.
If you choose the Zebra ZD421 thermal printer, the performance is approximately similar to the full colour solution.
This largely depends on your budget and specific requirements.
The main benefits of a full color solution are:
- Attendee types are clearly visible with color banding to identify exhibitors, speaker, staff, and attendees.
- The badges are printed both sides and are pre-folded.
- The badges come with pre-punched holes for single or double clipped lanyards
- Printer cuts labels off roll when printed for speed and efficiency
- You can print your own designs and use the same blank label for each badge type
- Cheaper labels as you don’t need to meet minimum production numbers for pre-printed badge template blanks
- You can reuse surplus labels at your next event
The main benefits for using mono, thermal based badges are:
- Cheaper hardware investment
- Cheaper labels
- Lower cost of overall ownership (e.g. less servicing costs)
- Portability
- You can stick the labels on to more high quality badge blanks that can only be made in advance (e.g. laminated / gloss style hard plastic badges)
With thermal labels you can purchase pre-designed and pre-punched labels in full colour for your overall badge design. Then feed them into the thermal printer to print the attendee’s personal information onsite.
Typically our full color badges can last 3 days of normal use. A thermal printed badge without a plastic back will last no more than 1 day.
This depends on how many people you’re expecting.
The kiosks themselves don’t require an attendant to operate. Most of the resource required is to manage people and making sure they have their QR code ready and queuing is evenly spread.
For example, at our event we have around 700 people arrive within 1.5 hours and we use 6 staff members to manage 4 kiosk stations.
Our application is designed to run on any Windows 10 or 11 based computer. This can be a PC, Laptop, or even a tablet based computer like a Microsoft Surface Pro.
We do recommend a touchscreen PC with a keyboard and mouse as attendees who cannot find their QR code can enter their email address. It is faster to use the keyboard for this.
However, from an admin perspective, when you need to override the validation gates (i.e. reprint badges) using a touchscreen is faster.
We strongly recommend using a 2D QR code USB infa-red scanner such as the Eyoyo Barcode Scanner rather than using camera detection of the QR Code as the detection time is considerably faster than camera detection.
We only support 1 full color label printer, the Epson C3500 label printer. This is a common printer used by the events industry and is specifically designed for fast and heavy use.
Any thermal printer can be used. However, we recommend you use a Zebra (ZD421) brand thermal printer as they’re designed for industrial use.
The kiosks require internet connectivity. This can be wired, wireless, or even 5G mobile.
We recommend that the kiosks connect to internet that isn’t shared with normal attendee browsing for performance and reliability.
At the moment if your event is in the mainland United Kingdom you can hire our event hardware.
This includes delivery and setup on your setup day, training of your volunteer team, all ink and badge labels, and pack down and collection.
All you will need to do is provide the volunteers.
We may be able to support your event if you’re based in Ireland or some European countries. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
All events are supported remotely, so you will have direct contact with your event manager who can handle all your queries.
Alternatively, you can purchase our premium event support services which will ensure that at least 1 trained person from Just Attend will be at your event ready to help at a moment’s notice. Or you may wish to take our fully managed onsite badge printing service where we do it all for you.
Technically yes. However, you will lose any check-in data our system will provide you.
All you need to do is export your attendee list from the admin portal and import into your own system.
The most important thing is to make sure the system you’re using prints a QR code encoded with the ticket number so that our mobile app will detect the attendee when your exhibitors use lead scanning.
