Session Categories

Updated on August 6, 2024

If you’re going to be hosting seminars then you need to setup at least one session category or use the default pre-created for you.

You can find the sessions categories in Setup > Categories

There are 2 types of categories, track and level.

Track – this is the overall session topical category

Level – this is a sub-category of the topical category, for example topical depth

You must have at least one of each configured.

Note: Levels are sub-categories applied to all tracks. There is no current way to offer different levels per track topic. This will be added in a future release.

Durations

You are able to configure session durations accepted via call for content for each track and level. The default duration is set to 60 minutes.

You’re able to add your own session durations as you need and each category can support more than 1 duration.

Please note that a level duration will override the main category duration when selected. For example if a track has a duration set of 40 minutes, but a level is set to 20 minutes, when the speaker chooses the level within the the track, the maximum duration of the session will be set to 20 minutes.

This also works the other way around. If a track duration is set to 20 minutes, but a level is configured at 40 minutes, when the level is selected, the duration will be set to 40 minutes.

Category Description

The category description is an opportunity for you to communicate with your potential speakers and attendees on what to expect from content within the category.

This helps them understand if the content within the track is relevant to their interests.
